More glory for Ryan

I believe that anyone who competes against any world champion in any sporting event may easily be intimidated by that individual. Anyone except Ryan.M.Brathwaite!

An amazing talent who has been performing consistently all week long ( 20-24 July) he has posted times ranging from 13.31 - 13.37 secs.

With a winning time of 13.36 secs ( -1.9m/s) in heat 2 of the AVIVA London Grand Prix, he returned almost two hours later and scared the World record holder and Olympic champion Dayron Robles in the finals before finishing second in a time of 13.31 ( -2.2 m/s).

A medal prospect for the upcoming World Championships in Berlin,Germany, let's continue to pray for the boy from Church Gap Hillaby,St.Andrew.

Diamond STAR !!

Lucerne Switzerland was the venue for ace hurdler Ryan.M.Brathwaite today ( 15 July) when he won his FIRST hurdle race on the European circuit.

Competing in the Lucerne Spitzen Leitchathletik athletics meeting ( that is exactly how I saw it),Ryan won the 110m hurdles in 13.23 secs which is also a personal best ( PB) and a new national record ( NR) .

In the process he won a diamond which is given to the athlete with the BEST OVERALL PERFORMANCE.

He's truly to be called one of us.

CONGRATULATIONS ONCE MORE !!!!

When it rains it usually pours. This time around it's RAINING STARS.

At the World Youth Champpionships in Italy,up and coming Kenrisha Brathwaite recorded a personal best ( PB) of 13.76 secs in the preliminaries of the 100m hurdles. Unfortunately Kenrisha could not repeat this performance in the semifinal and didn't advance to the finals.

Super hurdler Ryan.M.Brathwaite,competing on the European circuit is gearing up for the 2009 World Championships in Berlin,Germany. At the recent Athens Grand Prix ( 13 July) held in Tsiklitria Greece, Ryan was second in the 110m hurdles in a wind assisted ( +2.30) time of 13.22 secs.

More good news in Rising Stars land as another World Championships bound athlete,Ramon Gittens has been included in a group of five student-athletes for honours from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association ( USTFCCCA).

USTFCCCA honours Division 2 student-athletes for academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor season. To qualify for USTFCCCA all academic track and field teams, student-athletes needs a cumulative grade point average ( GPA) of 3.25 and meet NCAA division 2 indoor and outdoor automatic and provisional quaifying standards in their respective events.

Ramon is an accounting major with a GPA of 3.521 and was second in the 2009 Division 2 outdoor 100m and third in the indoor 200m.

KENRISHA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Several years ago we all knew that the heiress ( HAHAHA) apparent to hurdle queen Kierre Beckles was going to be petite Kenrisha Brathwaite. Now she seems to be on her way.

In the team which left Barbados for the 2009 World Youth Championships in Sudtirol,Italy from July 8-12 is our own hurdle princess who will compete in the 100m hurdles.

As though that wasn't enough,Kenrisha was selected from thousands of athletes within the NACAC region who participated at the recently held World Athletics Day event.

Kenrisha's prize is an all expense paid trip to the World Championships in Berlin,Germany from 15- 23 August 2009.

Congratulations Kenrisha.
