All a dem

In the end it was almost a case of Rising Stars at NCC yesterday ( October 28) . I wasn't there but all reports are that we ( RST&FC) displayed strength, stamina and durability BEYOND the expectation of spectators.

Some of the standouts and their respective schools are :

Tristan Alleyne - Springer Memorial

Erin Corbin-Boyce - Harrison College

Ayanna Goring - Harrison College

Tramaine Maloney - Lodge School

Antone Williams - Parkinson Memorial

Jerrad Mason - Harrison College

Kevin McCaskie - Queen's College

Dario Scantlebury - Queen's College

Jabari Gray - Queen's College*

** Jabari is a "newbie" and is a first time RS representative.

I am certain there were others who gave remarkable performances. The splits per leg of the respective relays may be available here soon.

Oba to help ??

Page 4 of the Barbados Advocate ( October 9 2009) carries an article by the PM of Barbados where he states that Olympic bronze medalist Obadele Thompson is willing to assist World Champion Ryan Brathwaite in his build-up to London 2012.

What is interesting with this is that when Thompson ( the athlete) was in his prime and globally ranked it was like talking to Nelson's ( the statue in Trafalgar Square) wife. There were numerous times when he would return to Barbados and couldn't make time to talk to any athlete from his club of which Ryan was a member. Hmmmm!!!

Fast forward to his bronze medal performance and after. Where has he been all this time when athletes in Barbados wanted his type of mentoring as it relates to the international circuit? Where was he when the same Ryan Brathwaite was getting recognised as a teenager after Osaka 2007 or Beijing 2008 ??

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to listen to what Oba will say. Or will it?
