STARS still shining !!!

With the 2007 track season still in the "shimmering" stage, athletes from Rising Stars track club are showing that when national selectors begin looking at teams this year, they should be in the thick of things.
At the recently held Open League #1, some of the athletes gave very commendable performances.
Harrison College schoolboy Tyrell Forde got over his first hurdle(pun intended) narrowly beating BC Trac's Greggmar Swift in the Boys' U-17 100m hurdle 13.9 - 14.0. WHEW !!
Ryan "Frenchie" Brathwaite again got the better of teammate Ronnie Griffith, by the slimmest of margins in the Boys 110m hurdle 14.5 - 14.6. The hurdle battle has really begun between these two.
Former Lester Vaughan schoolboy Lemar Calderon was second to CAC medalist and one of two ( a twin),Fabian Norgrove in the U-20 Boys 1500 - 4.26 - 4.29.
Halana Gittens was a brave third in the U- 15 Girls 400m behind more notable athletes Shavonne Husbands ( Freedom Striders) and Tanice Watson ( BC Trac).Halana time was 67.0 secs. Good effort Halana !!
The boys' equivalent saw Shakir Sandiford and Shaquille Hollingsworth getting the 3rd and 4th place finishes to gain more notable athletes Shaquille Alleyne (TFA) and Jerome Stuart (FS). This may be the division to watch all year.
2006 BSSAC multievent winner and hurdle queen Kierre Beckles continues to display her versatility as an athlete with a commendable 2nd place in the Women's 400m behind middle distance runner Latoya Griffith of Quantum Leap - 57.9 - 58.2.
Odd distance ace Ramon Gittens had to settle for a 2nd place ( ironically to another Qunatum Leap athlete) in the Men's 400m.Stefan Goodridge's time of 49.5 was good enough for the win.Ramon ran 49.6 and former TFA athlete,Jamal "Weasel" Marshall now also a "Star" was 3rd in 49.8.
Erla-Ashlee Massiah was the winner of the U-15 Girls 100m, but little Tristan Evelyn ( I mean that literally) was absolutely amazing.Only 9 years old Tristan got the entire stadium behind her as she looked to upset her older opponents.Way 2 go Tristan!!!
U-15 Boys ( more of the same ) Shakir (1st) - Shaquille (2nd).
The stadium was brought to life agin in the U-17 Girls 100m, when Kenrisha Brathwaite gave Carifta and CAC representative Tameka Rawlins a scare all the way to the finish line. Tameka ( TFA ) 12.4 - Kenrisha 12.7.
Andre Harper was 4th in the Men' 100m in a pedestrian 11.0 secs and Christian continues to dominate the 5000m winning from his training mate Jason Wilson,
The last victory for the glowing
